Overview

Restspace is a platform for booking nearby idle spaces, equipment, and vehicles in real time. A spatial allocation algorithm and AI intent matching connect each request to available capacity. AR+D led the product from protocol architecture and AI system design through full-stack engineering. We also built its native mobile app.

The problem

Buildings, equipment, and vehicles sit unused for much of the day. Existing booking tools rely on static listings and category search. They can't match real-time availability to what a user needs in the moment. The task was a protocol that allocates idle capacity instantly through AI matching, with no long-term commitments for owners or users.

What we did

We built AI-first from day one. The core protocol uses a spatial allocation algorithm to match user intent to nearby capacity in real time. Users describe what they need, and the system surfaces the best match. We engineered the backend protocol layer, AI search, and a real-time availability engine. We also built payment infrastructure and a native iOS app with QR self check-in. The platform spans 29 capabilities across eight utility categories: Rest, Work, Refresh, Store, Exercise, Connect, Move, and Events.
